| What a treasure, a SMART SET in its original pink heart shaped velvet box -- still has the foil ticket showing "Advertised In VOGUE and LIFE. Smart Set was put out by Coro in 1957. The rhinestone choker/necklace measures 15"L x 1/2"W. It has a hook clasp so that you may adjust the length. The choker is made up of 38 5mm x 2mm marquis faceted rhinestones - 24 baguette rhinestones - 29 1mm round cut faceted rhinestones. The matching Dangle Earrings are 1 1/2"L x 5/8"W. Each Earring is designed with 11 rhinestones consisting of 6 marquis cut, 1 small round cut and 4 baguettes. The Earrings are screwback. The condition is very good, all stones present and the back shows little wear. I suspect the earrings were worn more often than the choker. This is a Collectors find! The SMART SET is shown in an advertisement in Roseann Ettinger's book "Forties & Fifties POPULAR JEWELRY with Price Guide on Page 79. |
